Procedure
A mixture of Example 695B (0.73 g, 1.93 mmol), 5% Pt/C, methanol (15 mL) and ethyl acetate (15 mL) was equipped with a balloon of hydrogen gas and stirred at room temperature. After uptake of the hydrogen was complete, the solution was filtered through diatomaceous earth (Celite®). The filtrate was concentrated under vacuum and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel with 7:3 hexanes/ethyl acetate to provide 0.64 g (95%) of the desired product. MS (DCI) m/e 349 (M+H)+, 366 (M+NH4)+; 1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.81 (s, 1H), 7.85 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 1H), 6.96 (d, J=8.1 Hz, 1H), 6.69-6.72 (m, 2H), 6.50 (dd, J=7.8, 1.8 Hz, 1H), 6.40 (d, J=2.1 Hz, 1H), 5.00 (s, 2H), 3.86 (s, 3H), 3.63 (s, 3H), 3.55 (s, 2H).
