NaH (14.6 g, 0.61 mol) was suspended in DMF (100 mL). [4-(3-Pyrrolidin-1-ylpropoxy)phenyl]acetonitrile (25.5 g, 0.10 mol) was dissolved in DMF (100 mL) and added dropwise to the ice-cooled suspension of NaH. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min followed by dropwise addition of 2-bromoethylether (36.2 g, 0.16 mol) in DMF (200 mL) in ice-cold condition. The reaction mixture was poured into ice-cold water. The solid was filtered, washed with water, dried and the resulting solid was washed with 5% EtOAc in hexane to give the title compound (22 g, 67%).
