A suspension of 6-(methylthio)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2-carbamic acid, methyl ester (prepared as described in Example 1) (0.447 mol) in 2700 ml of HOAc is treated dropwise with 535 ml of 30% H2O2. The suspension is stirred until a solution is obtained (~5 hours) and then poured into 8 l. of ice water. The product is collected by filtration and dried.
