4.5 g Ethyl N-(3-benzoylphenyl)-glycinate, obtained at a 66% yield from 3-aminobenzophenone and ethyl bromoacetate by an analogous procedure to that of Example 1, are heated in the presence of 10 ml dimethyl sulphate and 2 ml water to 100° C. for 11/2 hours.
