2-Hexanol (0.61 g) in 2 ml dry toluene was slowly added at room temperature to a solution of 1.5 ml (2M) trimethylaluminum diluted with 5.0 ml dry toluene under nitrogen. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 15 minutes and 0.95 g of N-[(4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl]-2-methoxycarbonylbenzenesulfonamide was added. The mixture was warmed under N2 to reflux temperature for 2.5 hr. cooled to room temperature and carefully quenched with 20 ml 10% HCl. The organic phase was taken up in methylene chloride, separated, washed with water, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and the solvent evaporated under reduced pressure to give 0.65 g of the desired compound which melted at 125°-130° C. The infrared spectrum exhibited characteristic absorption for the product at 3300, 1725, 1730, 1585, 1555 cm-1.
