Into a suspension of 3.30 g (30 mmol) of 3-pyrrolecarboxylic acid in 10 me of dichloromethane, a solution of 5.90 g (45 mmol) of ethyl N-methyl-3-aminopropionate in 50 ml of dichloromethane, a solution of 4.55 g (45 mmol) of triethylamine in 50 ml of dichloromethane, and 8.63 g (45 mmol) of 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride were successively added, followed by stirring at room temperature for 3 hours. Dichloromethane was added to the reaction mixture, and the resulting organic layer was washed successively with a 10% aqueous solution of citric acid, a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate and a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and was then concentrated under reduced pressure, whereby 5.31 g of the title compound were obtained (yield: 79%).
