A solution of 3-benzoylpiperidine hydrochloride (109 mg, 0.60 mmol), 2-chloro-3-methyl-6-(4-pyridyl)-pyrimidine-4-one (118 mg, 0.40 mmol) and triethylamine (0.50 ml, 4.00 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (6 ml) was stirred at room temperature for several hours. The reaction mixture was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated in vacuo. Purification of the residue by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate) gave the title compound (182 mg, 61%).
