Procedure
To a solution of N-(2-hydroxy-4-nitrophenyl)-N′-(2-iodophenyl)urea (220 mg, 0.55 mmol) in ethanol (15 mL), Tin chloride (522 mg, 2.75 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at reflux for 16 hours then cooled to room temperature. The reaction mixture was basified to pH 8 with aq. NaHCO3 then extracted with ethyl acetate (3×). The organic extracts were combined, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give product (180 mg, 89%). EI-MS m/z 370 (M+H)+.
