A stirred solution of the product from step (iii) (0.819 g) in trifluoroacetic acid (20 ml) was heated at reflux for 1 h. 1-Methyluracil (0.311 g) was added and the reflux continued for 5 days. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by chromatography eluting with 10% methanol in dichloromethane to give the subtitle product as pale green glass.
