Procedure

204 mg of methyl 4-mercaptobenzoate were dissolved in 1.3 ml of dry dimethylformamide, and 53 mg of a 55% w/w suspension of sodium hydride in mineral oil were added to the resulting solution, whilst ice-cooling. The mixture was then stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. 258 mg of 1-[2-chloro-2-(2-thienyl)ethyl]imidazole dissolved in 1.3 ml of dry dimethylformamide were added to the resulting solution, and the mixture was then heated at 60° to 70° C. for 8 hours. At the end of this time, the resulting mixture was treated and purified similarly to the procedure described in Example 1, to give 20 mg of the title compound as an oil.
