1 to 1.2 eq of the 2-bromo-1H-indenone prepared in Step 4 is dissolved in MeOH, and then K2CO3 (1 to 2 eq) is added thereto. The resulting mixture is stirred at room temperature for 2 to 7 h, to obtain the 2-bromo-6-hydroxy-1H-indenone of formula 8 in which acetyl group is removed.
