To a solution of (5-methyl-3-pyrimidin-4-yl-isoxazol-4-yl)-methanol (313 mg, 1.63 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was added methyl 6-hydroxynicotinate (276 mg, 1.8 mmol) and triphenylphosphine (644 mg, 2.5 mmol) at room temperature under an argon atmosphere. Then diethyl azodicarboxylate (˜40% in toluene, 1.1 mL, 2.5 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 30 min at room temperature. Concentration and purification by chromatography (SiO2, heptane:ethyl acetate=100:0 to 1:1) afforded the title compound (95 mg, 18%) as a white solid. MS: m/e=327.3 [M+H]+.
