To a mixture of 3,5-dichloropyrazine-2-carbonitrile (100 mg, 0.57 mmol) and D-leucinamide HCl salt (104 mg, 0.625 mmol) in AcCN (2 mL) was added DIPEA (0.223 mL, 1.254 mmol). After stirring at room temperature for 4 h, it was diluted with EtOAc, washed with sat. NaHCO3, organic layer was separated and washed with brine, dried and concentrated to give (R)-2-(6-chloro-5-cyanopyrazin-2-ylamino)-4-methylpentanamide (150 mg).
