Procedure
2,3-dichloropyrazine (15 g, 101 mmol), methanamine (9.48 g, 101 mmol), and 100 mL of THF were stirred at room temperature for 24 h. The solvent was evaporated. The residue was dissolved in dichloromethane and washed with NaOH solution. The organic layer was separated and dried over MgSO4. After evaporating solvent, the residue was purified by column using dichloromethane as solvent to give 3-chloro-N-methylpyrazin-2-amine (6.3 g, 43.6% yield).
