Procedure
To a solution of 3-(pyridin-2-yl)benzene-1,2-diamine (1.86 g, 0.01 mmol) in EtOAc (200 mL) was added HCl in EtOAc (40 mL) and the mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 20 min. The precipitate was collected by filtration to give 3-(pyridin-2-yl)benzene-1,2-diamine-3HCl (C) as a yellow solid. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 400 MHz) δ ppm 6.89 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 7.33 (brs, 1H), 7.51 (d, J=7.2 Hz, 1H), 7.54-7.66 (m, 2H), 7.97 (d, J=8 Hz, 1H), 8.16 (brs, 1H), 8.75 (brs, 1H).
