To mixture of 5-bromo-2-(6-fluoropyridin-2-yloxy)benzoic acid (16 g, 51.3 mmol) and TBTU (16.46 g, 51.3 mmol) in 15 mL of DMF was added diethylamine (13.26 mL, 128 mmol). The resulting solution was allowed to stir at rt overnight. The reaction was quenched with saturated NaHCO3, extracted with a 2:1 mixture of EtOAc and hexanes (3×50 mL). The combined organics were washed with brine, and evaporated to dryness. Purification by silica gel chromatography (hexane to CH2Cl2 to CH2Cl2/EA=20:1 to 10:1 to 5:1) provided 5-bromo-N,N-diethyl-2-(6-fluoropyridin-2-yloxy)benzamide as a off-white solid.
