4-(4-Tert-Butoxycarbonylamino-piperidine-1-sulfonyl)-2-fluoro-benzoic acid methyl ester (0.8 g, 2.0 mmol) was added to a 1:1 mixture of water and tetrahydrofuran (20 ml) containing lithium hydroxide (0.8 g, 20.4 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. After this time the mixture was concentrated to half the original volume and the remaining solution was acidified to pH 1 with 1M HCl. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water (10 ml) and dried under vacuum to give the title compound (0.82 g, 99% yield) as a white solid.
