To a solution of 2-(4-bromo-2-methoxyphenyl)propan-2-ol (50.0 mg, 0.20 mmol) in toluene (0.81 mL) was added methyl 6-chloro-5-(5,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborinan-2-yl)-1H-indole-3-carboxylate (72 mg, 0.22 mmol), ethanol (0.43 mL), and tetrahydrofuran (0.43 mL). This was followed by the addition of 2M potassium carbonate aqueous (0.58 mL, 1.2 mmol). The reaction was evacuated and back filled with nitrogen (3×) then Pd(dppf)Cl2 (19.0 mg, 0.023 mmol) was added and the reaction heated to 115° C. for 3 hours. The reaction was then cooled to room temperature and filtered through a pad of celite washing with ethyl acetate. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure and purified via column chromatography (0-40% ethyl acetate/heptanes) to provide the title compound (45 mg, 59% yield) as a solid.
