4-(Azidomethyl)-1-phenylpiperidin-2-one (0.37 g, 1.3 mmol) was dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) and treated with triphenylphosphine (0.36 g, 1.4 mmol, 1.05 equiv). After stirring for 1 hour, the mixture was treated with water (1 mL) and stirred for 14 hours. The mixture was dried with sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo, providing the titled compound.
