After a mixture of ethyl [3-phenyl-1-(6-(2-phenyl-4-thiazolylmethoxy)-3-pyridylmethyl]-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]acetate (536 mg), 1N sodium hydroxide solution (2 ml), tetrahydrofuran (4 ml), and ethanol (4 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, 1N hydrochloric acid (2 ml) was added to the mixture, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated. The resulting colorless crystals were collected by filtration to obtain [3-phenyl-1-[6-(2-phenyl-4-thiazolylmethoxy)-3-pyridylmethyl]-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]acetic acid (459 mg, yield: 91%). This was recrystallized from ethanol-hexane. Melting point: 118–119° C.
