Procedure
To a solution of Example 598 (0.01 g, 0.022 mmol) in toluene (0.4 ml) under N2 was added thionyl chloride (0.1 ml) and heated at reflux for 3 h. The solution was concentrated using toluene to azeotrope and the residue was dissolved in dichloromethane (0.5 ml). To this solution was added NaBH4 (0.008 g, 0.22 mmol) in THF (0.5 ml) and stirred overnight. The mixture was diluted with MeOH (1 ml) and EtOAc, washed (0.1 N NaOH, H2O, and brine), dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated to give the title compound (0.005 g, 53%) without further purification.
