To a solution of (3aR*,10aS*)-4-aminoacetyl-9-benzyl-2,3,3a,4,9,10a-hexahydrobenzo[b]cyclopenta-[e][1,4]diazepin-10(1H)-one (0.2 g, 0.57 mmol) and benzenesulfonyl chloride (0.12 g, 0.69 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) was added triethylamine (70 mg, 0.69 mmol). The mixture was stirred for 30 minutes at room temperature. To the reaction mixture was added a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate, which was subjected to extraction with dichloromethane. The extract was washed with water and dried, then, the solvent was distilled off. The residue was purified by silica-gel column chromatography (dichloromethane), which was crystallized from diethyl ether to give 170 mg (yield 61%) of the titled compound, m.p. 185°-187° C.
