A mixture of 2-chloro-6-trimethylsilylbenzamide (2.27 g, 10 mmol), which may be readily prepared by the reaction of the compound of Example b and ammonium hydroxide, benzaldehyde (1.1 g, 10 mmol), and benzotriazole (1.2 g, 10 mmol) was refluxed 5 days in toluene utilizing a Dean-Stark trap to remove water. The solvent was removed to yield an oil which crystallizes. Recrystallization from ethyl acetate yielded 0.5 g of the title compound. m.p. 184°-186° C.
