Procedure

A solution of 0.9 ml of hydrazine hydrate in 134 ml of tetrahydrofuran is treated with 6.2 g of 8-chloro-6-(2-fluorophenyl)-1,3,4,6-tetrahydro-2-thiono-2H-5,1-benzothiazocine 5,5-dioxide. The solution is stirred at room temperature under a stream of argon for 1.25 hours and then evaporated in vacuo. The residue is crystallized from diisopropyl ether, there being obtained 8-chloro-6-(2-fluorophenyl)-2-hydrazino-3,6-dihydro-4H-5,1-benzothiazocine 5,5-dioxide of melting point 159°.
