Trisodium citrate dihydrate was added to the dilution brine consisting of 500 ppm NaCl containing 2770 ppm CaCl2 (1000 ppm Ca+2). The chelating agent was added to give concentrations equivalent to 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 ppm of citric acid; i.e., a citric acid (molecular weight=192) concentration of 1,000 ppm was prepared by adding 1531 ppm of trisodium citrate dihydrate (molecular weight=294).
