420 mg (1.5 mmol) of 2-amino-3-ethoxycarbonyl-5-(naphth-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole are stirred in 3 ml of formamide, 1.5 ml of DMF and 0.75 ml of formic acid at 150° C. for 22 hours. The reaction mixture is diluted with approximately 1 ml of isopropanol and filtered. Washing with ethanol, isopropanol and hexane yields the title compound; m.p.>300° C.; 1H-NMR (200 MHz, DMSO-d6): 12.2 (sb), 8.39 (s, 1H), 8.0 (m, 2H), 7.9 (m, 3H), 7.53 (m, 2H), 7.11 (s, 1H).
