Procedure
100 ml of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid were cooled to -10° C. 420 g of 3-bromo-4-trifluoromethoxy-benzoyl chloride were added dropwise in the course of two hours at -5° to 0° C., with vigorous evolution of hydrogen chloride. After the evolution of hydrogen chloride had ceased, the temperature was allowed to increase and the reaction allowed to go to completion at 20° C. The excess hydrofluoric acid was distilled off. The residue was purified by distillation. 352.8 g (88.7% of theory) of 3-bromo-4-trifluoromethoxybenzoyl fluoride of refractive index nD20 : 1.4760 were obtained. ##STR21##
