A mixture of 10.4 g (0.05 mole) of 6-methyl-5-(1-piperazinyl)-2,4-pyrimidinediamine triacetate, 10.1 g (0.05 mole) of 4-fluoro-N,N-dimethylbenzenesulfonamide, 6.4 g (0.055 mole) of anhydrous potassium fluoride, and 27.6 g (0.2 mole) of powdered potassium carbonate in 100 ml of dimethylsulfoxide was heated at 120° C. for four hours. The reaction mixture was cooled and poured into 300 ml of ice water. The solid was collected and washed with ml of water. Recystallization from N,N-dimethylformamide gave 6.5 g of the product as an off-white solid, mp 301°-304° C.
