A mixture of 7.25 g. 3-ethylsulphinyl-1,2,4-triazole, 7.8 g. N-allyl-N-ethylcarbamoyl chloride, 7.5 ml. dry triethylamine and 100 ml. dry tetrahydrofuran was refluxed under anhydrous conditions for 4 hours. The cooled reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate distilled under reduced pressure to give 1-(N-allyl-N-ethylcarbamoyl)-3-ethylsulphinyl-1,2,4-triazole as a residual oil, nD25 1.5328.
