The hydrogenation of 21 mmol of 2-(4-benzyloxy-2,3-difluorophenyl)-5-(6-octyloxypyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine in 200 ml of THF is carried out analogously to the procedure indicated for precursor 14, giving 8.2 g (93%) of a colorless solid, m.p. 130-132° C.
