Procedure
To the product of Example 3 (0.37 g, 0.0007 mole) in H2O (10 ml) was added LiOH (80 mg, 0.002 mole). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The pH was lowered to ≃3 with TFA and the product was isolated by RPHPLC to yield β-[[2-[[[3-[(aminoiminomethyl)amino]phenyl]carbonyl]-amino]acetyl]amino]benzenepropanoic acid, trifluoroacetate salt (280 mg) as a white solid. MS and NMR were consistent with the desired structure.
