Procedure

3-(3-chloro-4-methoxy-5-methylsulfonylbenzoyl)-1,1-dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1,3-benzothiazole (586 mg) was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (4 mL), and lithium chloride (241 mg) was added to the solution, and then the mixture was stirred at 120° C. for 2 hours. To the reaction solution, 1N hydrochloric acid was added, and the precipitated crystal was washed with water and then crystallized from n-hexane-chloroform to obtain the title compound (310 mg) as a colorless crystal.

Workup

  1. washthe precipitated crystal was washed with water
  2. customcrystallized from n-hexane-chloroform
