The product from Example 23, as the free base (0.330 g, 1 mmol) and triethylamine (0.15 mL, 1.05 mmol) were stirred in 10.0 mL tetrahydrofuran and cooled briefly in an ice bath. To the mixture was added dropwise methanesulfonyl chloride (0.08 mL, 1 mmol) and the resulting mixture was stirred 18 h at room temperature. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate was evaporated to 0.401 g oil. Flash chromatography [silica gel, methylene chloride/methanol (90/10)] yielded 0.147 g oil. Crystallization as the oxalate salt from ethyl acetate/methanol provided 0.149 g colorless crystals. Mp 204° C. Mass spectrum, m+ =407. Exact mass theory, 408.2069; found, 408.2066.
