1-[4-(2-Ethyl-5,7-dimethyl-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-3-ylmethyl)-phenyl]-3-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (17) (618 mg, 1.53 mmol) was dissolved in 10 ml of dichloromethane and cooled at −70° C. A 1M solution of DIBAH in THF (3.1 ml, 3.1 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 2 h at −70° C. The mixture was quenched with water and diluted with dichloromethane. The mixture was filtrated and extracted with dichloromethane. Organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried over Na2 SO4 and concentrated to afford a yellow foam. The product was used in the next step without further purification.
