Procedure

A solution of Example 17F (340 mg, 1.00 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) and triethyl amine (1.0 mL) was cooled to 0° C. To this was added methyl chloroformate (200 μL, 2.59 mmol) at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The reaction was diluted with dichloromethane, which was washed with water (1×) and concentrated. The residue was purified on silica gel eluting with hexane and ethyl acetate gradient to give the desired product as a white solid (234 mg, 59%). MS (DCI): m/z 397 (M+H); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 7.65-7.77 (m, 2H), 6.94-7.07 (m, 4H), 6.85-6.93 (m, 2H), 6.40 (s, 1H), 5.01-5.16 (m, 1H), 4.44-4.58 (m, 1H), 3.71 (s, 3H), 1.58 (d, J=6.99 Hz, 3H), 1.35 (d, J=6.25 Hz, 6H).
