Procedure
A mixture of 7-(2-dimethylamino-benzooxazol-5-yloxy)-1,4-dihydroxy-isoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid butyl ester (364 mg, 0.83 mmol), phosphorus oxychloride (92 μL, 1.00 mmol) and dichloroethane (4.5 mL) was stirred at 120° C. in a CEM microwave apparatus for thirty minutes. The mixture was then stirred with saturated sodium bicarbonate for fifteen minutes at ambient temperature. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel with a gradient of ethyl acetate and dichloromethane to give the title compound as a white solid (220 mg): MS: (+) m/z 456.32 (M+1).
