To a solution of compound (4-benzyloxy-phenyl)-(1-methyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-amine (1.8 g, 5.4 mmol) in 18 mL of THF and 18 mL of MeOH was added Pd(OH)2 (0.36 g, 20%) and 9 mL of acetic acid. The resulting mixture was kept and kept at 50 psi H2 atmosphere for 3 h. The reaction mixture was then filtered over a cake of Celite™. The filtrate was concentrated and purified by silica gel column chromatography (EtOAc/hexane) to get desired product 4-(1-methyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-ylamino)-phenol. [M+1]=240
