Procedure
To a solution of the product from Step B (6.200 g, 19.07 mmol) in 100 mL of EtOAc and 100 mL of saturated NaHCO3 solution at 0° C. was added chloroacetyl chloride (2.28 mL, 28.6 mmol). After one hour, the solution was poured into EtOAc, washed with water and brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The titled product was obtained as a brown solid.
