The Artemia salinas ribosome in vitro protein synthesis assay was used to analyze the effects of 2,6-diamino-3H-pyrimidin-4-one 1, 2-amino-6-dihydroxy-5-methylpyrimidin-4-one 25, 2-amino-6-methylpyrimidin-4-one 26, 6-amino-2-methyl-3H-pyrimidin-4-one 27, 2-amino-8-mercapto-1,9-dihydro-purin-6-one 28, 2,5-diamino-6H-thiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidin-7-one 14, 4-[(2-amino-4-oxo-4,7-dihydro-3H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5-ylmethyl)-amino]-benzoic acid 21, 2-amino-5-{[4-(4-amino-benzyl)-phenylamino]-methyl}-3,7-dihydro-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one 24, and 2-amino-6-methyl-3,7-dihydro-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one 6 on ricin activity. The results are presented in FIG. 23. 2-amino-6-methyl-3,7-dihydro-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one 6 was the most effective inhibitor with an IC50 of 0.25 mM.
