A mixture of 6-fluoro-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide (1.19 g, 6.47 mmol) and azido-trimethylsilane (2.0 g, 16.8 mmol) in DMF (10 mL) was stirred at 110° C. for 72 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with 50 mL of dichloromethane and washed with water (3×50 mL). The organic layer was separated, evaporated to dryness, and subjected to column chromatography (SiO2, 40% EtOAc-hexanes) to obtain 6-azido-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide (0.335 g) in 25% yield. ESMS m/z (relative intensity): 208 (M+H)+ (100).
