1-[2-Ethyl-5-(ethyloxy)-4-nitrophenyl]-4-[2-(methylsulfonyl)ethyl]piperazine (0.63 g, 1.6 mmol) was taken up in EtOAc (30 mL) and MeOH (5 mL). The catalyst, 5% sulfided platinum on carbon (0.25 g) was added. The reaction was placed under 1 atm of H2 gas and was allowed to stir at rt overnight. The catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound without further purification (0.55 g, 1.5 mmol, 91%). MS (ESI) m/z=356 [M+H]+.
