PROCEDURE

In a dry reaction tube containing in suspension copper iodide (12 mg, 0.07 mmol) and triethylamine (4.1 mL, 29 mmol), were added 2-iodopyridine (139 μL, 1.3 mmol) and Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 (46 mg, 0.07 mmol) under N2. A yellow suspension is obtained and after a few minutes of string at room temperature, was added a solution 5-(but-3-ynyl)-3-(2-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (299 mg, 1.3 mmol) in triethylamine (0.7 mL) under N2. Immediately the color of the reaction turns to black. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 h under N2. Triethylamine was removed under reduce pressure and the crude product was purified by flash chromatography (Prepacked column 10 g, cyclohexane/AcOEt: from 60/40 to 50/50 as eluent) to afford 50 mg of 2-(4-(3-(2-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)but-1-ynyl)pyridine (13%) as brown oil.
