Two hundred grams of CB-A is added to a solution of 10.1 g sulfanilic acid and 6.23 g of concentrated nitric acid in 21 g of water. A solution of 4.87 g of NaNO2 in 10 g of water is added to the rapidly stirring mixture. 4-Sulfobenzenediazonium hydroxide inner salt is formed in situ, which reacts with the carbon black. After 15 minutes, the dispersion is dried in an oven at 125 C.
