1,2,3,6-Tetrahydropyridine, (1.04 ml) was added to a stirred solution/suspension of 4-bromo-3,6-dichloropyridazine (2.0 g, 8.8 mmol) and potassium carbonate (2.4 g) in dry DMF (10 ml) at room temperature under nitrogen. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. The reaction was poured into water (100 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (×3). The combined extracts were washed with water (200 ml), brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered and evaporated. The residue was triturated with ether/petroleum ether to afford a white powder (1.96 g, 97%). 1H NMR (250 MHz, CDCl3) 6.82 (1H, s), 5.97 (1H, m), 5.80 (1H, m), 3.77 (2H, m), 3.59 (2H, m), 2.38 (2H, m). MS (ES+) 232 [MH]+.
