POCl3 (0.31 ml, 3.42 mmol) was added to anhydrous DMF (5 ml) at 0° C. slowly and stirred for 20 min. To this solution was added a solution of 1-benzyl-6-chloro-2-isopropyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine (Compound 13, 195 mg, 0.68 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (7 ml) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h and was then heated to 60° C. for 2 h and 80° C. for 0.5 h. The reaction was cooled to room temperature, quenched cautiously with aqueous Na2CO3, extracted with EtOAc (×2). The combined organic layer was washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel (0→30% EtOAc-hexanes) to yield the title compound.
