5-(5-Chloro-2-methoxyphenyl)oxazolidine-2,4-dione (100 mg.) was dissolved in 2.5 ml. of tetrahydrofuran. Excess acetic anhydride (4 drops) was added, and the mixture allowed to stand at room temperature for 16 hours. Evaporation to dryness gave 3-acetyl-5-(5-chloro-2-methoxyphenyl)oxazolidine-2,4-dione [Rf 0.75 (1:1 ethyl acetate: chloroform; m.p. 160°-162° C⟧
