Procedure

A mixture of 3-t-butyl-5-aminoisoxazole (2.07 g), methyl isothiocyanate (1.40 g) and triethylamine (3 drops) is heated at 75° C. for 72 hours. The reaction mixture is chromatographed on a column of silica gel, whereby 1-methyl-3-(3-t-butyl-5-isoxazolyl)thiourea (1.66 g) is obtained as an oil. IR: 1622 cm-1 (CC14).
