Ethyl cis(±)-5-acetyl-2-(4-{[(4-chloro-5-ethyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)carbonyl]amino}-3-methoxypiperidin-1-yl)-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylate obtained in Example (190b) (54 mg, 0.11 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (2 ml) and THF (2 ml). A 2 N aqueous lithium hydroxide solution (2 ml) was added, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The organic solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, followed by neutralization with 1 N hydrochloric acid. The resulting solid was collected by filtration and washed with distilled water, to obtain the title compound as a solid.
