The product from Example 27B (0.168 g, 1.0 mmol) and methyl thioglycolate (0.09 mL, 1.0 mmol) were combined in DMF (2 mL). To the solution was added 0.054 g NaOMe. After 1 hr, and additional 0.07 g NaOMe was added. After an additional 1 hr, the reaction was quenched in sat aq. NH4Cl and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4), and evaporated to yield 0.17 g of the title compound: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 3.90 (s, 3H), 3.93 (s, 3H), 6.15 (br s, 2H), 7.44 (d, 1H), 8.36 (d, 1H).
