A solution of (1R,5S)-3-Methyl-3,8-diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octane dihydrochloride (981 mg, 4.93 mmol), 5-fluoro-2-nitropyridine (100 mg, 4.93 mmol), and triethylamine (4.99 g, 49.3 mmol) in DMSO (8 ml) was heated to 80° C. for 2 hr. After cooling to room temperature, the reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed with saturated ammonium chloride, and water. The organic phase was then concentrated and triturated with ether to give desire product as an yellow solid (1 g, 81.8%).
